1. What have you found most challenging as a leader?

New Zealand's Ministry of Education.

2. How did you become a leader? Can you please briefly tell the story?

Saw a range of improvements students need, applied them and through success earned leadership opportunities.

3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?

Live what I do so have never worked a day in my life. Wake up plan the day and get on with it. Never regard interruptions from people or problems that occur as burdens. A successful day included how you deal with challenges - not that they don't occur.

4. What's a recent leadership lesson you've learned for the first time or been reminded of?

Sometimes it is worth driving 6 hours for a face-to-face meeting as it shows that you high value the people.

5. What's one book that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?

On the Road with Archangel. Just a beautiful story.

6. If you could only give one piece of advice to a young leader, what would you say to them?

If you are not a part of the solution you are part of the problem and going the extra mile is something you often need to do many times a day.

7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a leader, so far?

“Whoever saves one life saves the world entire.” Schindler's List
