1. What have you found most challenging as a board member?

Balance: profit vs social/ environmental, shareholders vs stakeholders, change for the future vs risk.

2. How did you become a board member? Can you please briefly tell the story?

I started with industry and Not for Profit and developed into larger organizations.

3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?

I don't have a set structure. Some days need long hours and commitment and others are less so. I adapt my schedule accordingly. I always find time to exercise, read/ reflect and sleep

4. What's the most recent significant leadership lesson you've learned?

Remain curious and don't be scared of being wrong

5. What are some of the keys to doing governance well in an organisation?

Be present. Listen. Learn. Have strong opinions but hold them lightly. Governance is a team sport.

6. How do you differentiate between the role of board member and the roles of CEO or executive team member of an organisation?

The Board represents the shareholders (and stakeholders), provides fiduciary oversight, strategic oversight, assesses risk and manages the CEO. The CEO runs the Business.

7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a board member so far?

Supporting the Management team through the initial months of Covid when everything was fluid and unknown
