Not being adequately prepared for the job

2. How did you become a church leader? Can you please briefly tell the story?

Being part of a leadership team for many years and then receiving a call from God to church plant in Sydney

3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?

Generally spend time with the Lord first thing - worshiping and enjoying his presence, then spend the day in staff meetings or with church members plus many phone calls/emails.

4. What's one book apart from the Bible that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?

Finishing Strong by Steve Farrar - with quite a high rate of attrition in friends and colleagues in ministry I really wanted to set a pace and work/life balance that would prepare me for finishing the ministry journey

5. What's the most recent significant leadership lesson you've learned?

Choosing the right leadership team and learning the life/work balance.

6. How do you develop a healthy leadership pipeline in a church?

Living vulnerably and transparently and bringing people through who share the same values and culture.

7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a church leader so far?

When we first got to Sydney we were doing a lot of spiritual warfare but actually suffering as a result. We eventually realised that our focus should be on Jesus and not the difficulties and when we shifted our focus everything really lifted.
