7 Questions with ALEX GALHO

.

1. What have you found most challenging as a CEO or executive of a large enterprise?

The most relevant challenging with CIO in my opinion is leading people, because in all the departments the activities are done by people they think and solution problems day by day into company.

This is very important to keep the teams motivated and focused on projects, challenge and goals, without lost quality live and relationship.

I understand that the biggest challenge is management people, one time today the relationships between people transform change fast
as work model and professional relationship, there is new demand about leading into work and people analytics

We are following a change constantly in the world, which bring up an insecurity and the great necessity of adaptation to manner new way work, business and relationship.
For my, the most important challenging is understanding each person and to know extract better each one of them.

2. How did you become a CEO or executive of a large enterprise? Can you please briefly tell the story?

Well, this is a long history, but I began as support analyst right after university, and I grew up step by step in my carrier, year after year I studied and did certificate and developed more ability in general areas of technology, in fact long 30 years have already passed.

I was raised with economic and social great difficulty, in a multicultural, lower-middle-class Porto Alegre neighborhood., And this motivated me to dream and search new ways and new choices for my life.

in terms of success, I believe to have a lot of dreams to come true and still achievement them together with my family. One of them is having international experience in my area.

3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?

Well, With CIO I can say that my days today are a lot more organized, because I became a Dad of three kids. I have learned a lot with them about many themes.
Children have demanded and forced me to become more organized and to have a plan day by day hour after hour.

Today I am using the Miracle Morning to organize my time, As time is the most important asset at this moment in my life.

At 5:30 I have my fifteen minutes of meditation, after that I start to study specific themes (Philosophy, Technology etc) . I read some books considered Best Sellers around the world until 8 o’clock.

After this time my agenda is very intensive with many meetings throughout the day, so I need to organize with my teams all the meeting for so that I don’t forget any of them.

I have individual meetings with each manager or each responsible for departments, today they are five departments:

a) Cloud Computer Infrastructure
b) System Management
c) Project Management
d) Development Management
e) Security Management

So, as you can see, my day is too intense, fulfilling all my agenda is a great daily challenge, but I love it.
Finally, after work I give attention to my Wife and kids, because it is a great opportunity to understand and speak about our routines and challenge in family and thank GOD for one more day.

4. What's the most recent significant leadership lesson you've learned?

The most important CIO leadership lesson that I have learned was to identity every team member’s great ability to work together with happiness.

This happiness makes them feel more engaged into the teams and feel they contribute for the good of whole.

Ultimately, people will remain more motivated if they are excelling at their activity and they will feel inspired to organically learn new things over time.
It is always sad when your leader gives you assignments that don’t reflect of the values attributes that you bring to the work.

I believe there are three great values:
1) Transparence
2) Adaptation
3) Inspection

Nonetheless your profile of leadership it is very important to understand people and scenarios, because each individual is totally different, so, it is necessary to value people, leaders should lead with more values them outcomes.

5. What's one book that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?

Well, I am always looking for wisdom through reading good books.

Nowadays the book that changed greatly my life it was "Find Your Why” by Simon Sinek.

This book brings to me great lessons about Passion about life and work.

In many cases we don't choose our professional and many times the life pass without us understanding our mission in this world.

Sinek takes us to think about values, contribution and more relevant word today, what your purpose of live.

I strongly recommend everyone to read this book, because it makes you think about all of your relation, all your capacity and your mission.

In closing, Sinek written another book and same issues about this question, I wish you good reading and good changes.

6. How do you build leadership capacity in a large enterprise?

Well, I believe that building leadership capacity in a large enterprise is directly linked with your personality, but for this it is necessary to understand the scenery and mainly the audience of your company, also find out what is your main business and which core business. For me another great point is to listen and listen to your staff, because the wisdom is surrounded in the team.

7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a CEO or executive of a large enterprise so far?

I believe that the main story is this right now because the present time is a present for us.
I need to do my best these days, today I understand all of us are living, maybe, the biggest transformation of all times.
Do more with less, do more with the same, but for me, the pandemic brings to this generation an of most challenging problems.
Helping the change in the life particular and in the job of the people, and mainly in the way relationship one with others.
The most important time in my professional life was with my team today, when we put 600 professionals to work in their house, and to lead with this Digital transformation that happened suddenly.
In my opinion, we face truly a war and find out true heroes, which I thank them very much.
