As a seasoned communications strategist, Amy Rosen has created engaging media campaigns for many of the world’s most beloved and trusted brands including Apple, Proctor and Gamble, General Motors, IBM and Starwood Resorts and Hotels. Rosen has represented clients in technology, fashion, hospitality, packaged goods, food, health and wellness, entertainment, beauty, sports, automotive and financial services. She is passionate about the power of earned media to influence behavior, impact the intersection of brand and corporate reputation and drive real business value for her clients.
1. What have you found most challenging as a leader of a small or medium enterprise?
I look forward to all challenges as opportunities to continue to offer my actions in strategy and tactical deliverables.
2. How did you become a leader of an SME? Can you please briefly tell the story?
As I have risen in my career and given more opportunities to lead I have grown and learn to lead by experience and key colleagues.
3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?
I find the early morning is the best time for personal meditation and exercise and then I can focus on all that I must accomplish for the day. I also make sure at the end of the day to review my calendar and be sure to respond to all emails. It is very important that I share dinner with family and block out that as important family time.
4. What's the most recent significant leadership lesson you've learned?
Be flexible now with so many businesses affected by COVID and have realistic expectations on timing for deadlines and deliverables.
5. What's one book that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?
“The First 90 days” by Michael D Watkins. It’s relevant for new client relationships as well as for employees.
6. How do you build leadership capacity in an SME?
I believe in hiring from within and offering leadership opportunities to those who demonstrate success.
7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a leader of an SME so far?
My clients who come to me in the most critical times and then stay with me in long term relationships show me that work is meaningful and provides a return on their investment.
