Gaurav Henry is a serial entrepreneur and co-founder at Hindistan Dükkan. His ambition is to bridge the gap of getting high-quality hand-beaded Indian fabrics and bridal wear into the Turkish market. The synergies of Indian and Turkish markets were quite fascinating for him, and his better half helped him streamline the processes and eventually set-up Hindistan Dükkan

1. What have you found most challenging as a leader of a small or medium enterprise?

Working capital

2. How did you become a leader of an SME? Can you please briefly tell the story?

I have experience of more than 20 years working in the IT industry. When I moved to Turkey from London I saw a potential market that was untapped, so decided to set up my venture.

3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?

4 hours of sleep and most of the time is spent between work and family

4. What's the most recent significant leadership lesson you've learned?

Never give up even when the chips are down and the world is unforgiving.

5. What's one book that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?

Well, it would be zero to one I guess. I am an avid reader and subconsciously whatever one reads affects the decision-making process, so I can't hone in just one reference.

6. How do you build leadership capacity in an SME?

By setting the right example

7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a leader of an SME so far?

There are so many stories, but I am short on time to discuss the past. I am here to make new stories
