With over 25 years of experience leading change initiatives and directing multi-billion-pound projects, he has consistently demonstrated his exceptional leadership skills. However, one of the most significant challenges in his career has been the need to step up his game when faced with increasing responsibilities. From leading a team of 8 staff to managing organizations with 30, 600, 4,000, 23,000, and finally 200,000 people, each step presented a unique set of challenges.
Windmill recognizes that these transitions were not incremental but required a conscious decision to identify what he needed to do to be an effective leader at each major stage. Despite the daunting nature of these transitions, Windmill rose to the occasion, making strategic decisions and implementing effective leadership strategies to meet the demands of each new role. Although he was initially shy during his school years, he embarked on a transformative path that ultimately shaped his leadership abilities. Seeking to develop his teamwork and camaraderie skills, Windmill made the decision to join the army. As Windmill transitioned to civilian life, he had the opportunity to work with prominent organizations that played a crucial role in his leadership development. Trained by Arthur Anderson and mentored by M&A billionaire Roland 'Tiny' Rowland at 3i, he gained invaluable insights into strategic thinking, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions. The Seven Pillars of Wisdom: T.E. Lawrence
Lawrence's role as a Brisithc Army officer (Captain, later Major) during the Arab Revolt against the Turkish Empire. Lawrence came to lead the entire Arab nation with around 200,000 men under his command.
I learnt from him that thinking big and having a vsion of the future leads to people following that vision

Take coffee and cake to meetings where you wish to shape opinion
7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a leader, so far?
Risk must be found, quantified and mitigated: On an GBP £18 Billion change programme, I was constantly challenged over minor issues; once a process was in place to quantify risk, most of these distractions disappeared.
