Shanna Spickard, Ed.D. has served in education since 1997 and has been a teacher (8 years), a middle school principal (15 years), an adjunct professor (6 years), and now is serving her first year as superintendent with DeWitt Public Schools. Spickard was an active member with both the state and national principals associations: MEMSPA (past president) and NAESP (state rep, nationally certified mentor, and coach). In addition, Shanna speaks around the state and country on education leadership topics. Her education includes a doctorate and specialist in education leadership (Eastern Michigan University), a master's degree in communication (Michigan State University), and two bachelor's degrees in education and communication (Ohio University). Spickard now lives in DeWitt with her husband Mack, who is an attorney by trade, a military lifer, and works in banking compliance. They are new to empty nesting as their son just started at Michigan Tech University studying mechanical engineering, and their daughter is in her third year at Michigan State University studying secondary education.
